Screen Free Audible Player For Kids

The Yoto is an amazing screen free audible player for those who are looking for a way to play music and books on audio without worrying about ads, microphones or cameras. Only you decide which cards your kids (great for the elderly too) get which gives you the relief of giving your kids the freedom to be in charger of their players to go between cards that have been preapproved from you without worrying about finding something they shouldn’t.

Great to make your own audio cards with MP3 files

They also have MYO cards which stands for make your own cards. This is perfect for lessons like our Latin or putting your favorite music playlist. Many people also like to add books that maybe not be offered quite yet on the website. You can literally put anything as long as it’s an MP3 file.

We were gifted the mini which is the smaller more portable player, a yellow jacket to carry it and a few cards. I then went to Thriftbooks and bought books that match the 3 book audios as an extra read-along. I am so excited to share more with you in the coming months as we get to know our player. But I can already tell you some of my favorite things.

  1. Setting up this player was incredibly easy. And let me tell you I have tried to set up a lot of things lately for different children with different devices. This was by far the best experience.

  2. I love that they have cards that would be great for my two year old and also for my almost 10 years old. From fiction to nonfiction and education to music.

  3. I am planning to use at least three make your own cards. The first will be the songs within our Latin studies. The second will be my father-in-law stories of growing up in Papua New Guinea as a child. And lastly I want my mom singing lullabies that her mom saying her and has been passed down all the way to my kids.

  4. I love that there is an app and you can just play your cards off your phone. It’s almost like having a second player. I use it all the time. Another thing I really love about the app is that if for some reason we lose the card we still have it in our app. It’s not a waste financially if something were to be lost. That’s a huge deal. One I feel that would make the Yoto superior than their competitors. I will add here that I have added the last of our Gather Round MP3s to the app so that we could listen to the about of lessons for the last 7 and LOVE it!! Perfect if you use the Gather Round Homeschooling or others that give MP3 files.

Here are inside looks of how the app looks:

The different extra options that the Yoto App offers. You will also see my MYO area with our Latin and Vikings. I haven’t downloaded them to cards yet. But working on uploading them so I can play them on my phone as of right now.

I little audio and look at how the chapters are broken up.

These are just a few of the things that I love so far. And honestly I haven’t even used the mini yet. It’s sitting underneath the Christmas tree ready to go for Axle Christmas morning. I’ve just been using the app the last couple weeks. I also bought a couple books to follow the audio on the cards. I’ll give you an update for that as well.

A few facts:

The Yoto player is made for kids from 3 to 12+ using physical cards to explore the best audio, music, activities and educational audio. There are no microphones no cameras and no ads.

The same Yoto cards work both work with both players. If you have two people wanting to listen to the same card one could be sent from the app and the other could have the physical card. So both players can listen to the same card at the same time.

Kids get to be in control of what they listen to. By picking the cards that you have given them they can choose between books and music or whatever you have pre-programmed onto the MYO cards. This gives the control to the child that also gives you the peace of mind that they’re only listening to things that you have preapproved.

You’ll need a Wi-Fi connection to set up your go to player and download your go to cards once that the downloadable your kids can play them wherever and whenever they like. Some features like go to radio and go to daily or your day and night clock will need Wi-Fi but most listening and be done with or without a connection at the park on a plane or in the car. Yoto player has up to 350 hours/16 GB of audio storage you could disconnect the other two player for the Wi-Fi by the app.

“The Yoto began in 2015 when the co-founders were talking about the challenges of modern parenting. They both had nagging concerns about the effects of excess screen time for young children with a potential negative around sleep disruption, fine motor control development and addictiveness of the screens making them think twice about putting the kids in front of a screen.” More of there story HERE
